Community Involvement in Rolling Back Malaria The RBM community movement is both an active participant in malaria programmes and a political force intended to bring pressure upon governments to ensure that the health care needs of those most at risk of malaria are met. Evidence-based actions underpin all operations. RBM has already achieved notable successes in increasing political will, including making malaria a priority on their development and health agenda. RBM aims to generate a dynamic societal movement among those at risk of malaria. Organized community action against malaria must include empowering the most affected so that they can help themselves.

Planning Social Mobilization and Communication for Dengue Fever Prevention and Control: A Step-by-Step Guide A major obstacle to effective implementation of selective, integrated mosquito control has been the inability of ministries of public health to mobilize and coordinate the resources needed to achieve and sustain behavioural impact among populations at risk of dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DF/DHF). This guide offers a comprehensive and innovative managerial insight to planning social mobilization and communication for behavioural impact (COMBI strategy). This page offers access to an abstract, executive summary, and the full-text guide complete with tools. |More|

Principles and Methods of Behavior Change. This chapter of the book "Building Better Health: A Handbook of Behavioral Change" discusses the fact that since every individual or group behavior is learned, it has the potential to be modified or replaced with other, newly learned behavior and it can be changed to improve health and wellbeing. The influence of culture, society and citizen and community participation when considering implementing a program designed to change behavior is analyzed. Collecting information for planning and intervening and preventing programs successfully are also part of this section. Pages 255-286.
