Therapeutic Education: Proposal for a Theoretical Model Based on the Experiences of the Cuban Diabetes Program This book lays out the main challenges to the educational dimension of long-term follow-up and proposes a theoretical model for action. It defends the place of therapeutic education within clinical care, its challenges and contradictions to propose a practical transformation through a theoretical model centered on the person. It exemplifies the chance to put it these actions into practice from the prespective of the Cuban diabetes strategy. There is an analysis and scientific discussion concluding that education is important as as therapeutic act, with calls for a pedagogical method and special modes of communication centered on the person and on the development of her/his capacity and responsibility to take care of his/her own health. This page offers a translation of the prologue and access to the full text in Spanish. dia-cuba.htm
