Situation Report 5
10 September, 2004

Heading for Jamaica hurricane Ivan passed the southern coasts of Haiti during the night of 09 to 10 September. A hurricane warning remains in effect for the southern departments of Haiti.

So far no reports of serious damage. (see overview annex)
More rain is expected especially in the Grande Anse Departement.

Some flooding reported in Bocozel (Artibonite) due to rising level of Artibonite river because of heavy rain in Dominican Republic. An MSF-B team (normally based in Petite Riviere d’Artibonite) is on its way to assess the situation.

Port au Prince has intermittent rain. No reports of any damage. Airport is open, however American Airlines flight to Miami this morning was cancelled.

Next coordination at OCHA for planning of possible evaluation missions if needed at 16.00 this afternoon.
