IMMUNIZATION

Vaccination Week in the Americas 2008

This year's Vaccination Week in the Americas (VWA), held April 19–26, counted 44 participating countries in North, South and Central America and the Caribbean. High-profile launching events featuring special guests and dignitaries kicked off the week in a number of countries and border areas, including the Panama–Costa Rica border, the U.S.–Mexico border, and the Amazon border of Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. As in previous years, people around the region showed their support for the hemispheric initiative by participating in special events and by getting themselves and their children vaccinated.
