World Health Day 2008
 

Celebration

Given the importance of World Health Day, PAHO has planned the following activities:

  • Headquarters ceremony – On the 7th April 2008, a ceremony will be held at PAHO headquarters, Washington DC. (Click here for ceremony agenda)
  • Workshop on Climate Variability and Change and their Health Effects – On the 9th, 10th and 11th April 2008, a technical workshop will be held in Brazil to follow-up from World Health Day by developing a Draft Plan of Action for the Region.

Additional Activities:

  • Climate Change preparedness diagnostic tool
    This tool will be completed by each country prior to World Health Day.
  • Updated Climate Change and Human Health: Risks and Responses Summary
    This important summary document from WHO, WMO and UNEP will be updated according to the new Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate projections, and launched on 7 April 2008.

In Belize:

The PAHO/WHO Country Office in Belize is promoting a Symposium on April 7, 2008 at the Radisson Fort George Hotel. Its purpose is to catalyze public participation in the global campaign to protect health from the adverse effects of climate change; raise awareness of the links between climate change and health and other development areas such as environment, food, energy, and transport; and involve a wide spectrum of partners in the discussion of climate change and necessary interventions.
