Message from the World Health Organization Sent by WHO's Director-General, Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, to PAHO's Director, Dr. George A.O. Alleyne
Sir George Alleyne
Director
Pan American Health Organization
7 January 2002
Dear George
During the past 100 years, the Pan American Health Organization has worked with the countries of North, South and Central America and the Caribbean to improve the health and raise the living standards of their peoples. Its achievements have been remarkable, and as an inspiration and example to others, PAHO's work has had effect far beyond the Americas.
The challenges we are facing in global public health are more complex than ever before. But our skills, our knowledge and our experience are also greater. As you go into your centennial year I wish you all the best in your ongoing work in promoting health in the broadest sense of that word.
With very best wishes,
