Costa Rica - Plans for Centennial Celebrations

[NEW!] Centennial celebrations come to an end

Costa Rica concluded its centennial-year observances with a January 20 event at the Presidential House, during which PAHO received a plaque of recognition by the President of the Republic, Dr. Abel Pacheco de la Espriella and the Minister of Health, Dr. María of the Rocío Sáenz.

PAHO Centennial Commemorative Plaque

The Legislative Assembly placed a special PAHO centennial commemorative plaque at the entrance to its Hall of Former Presidents in August. Among those attending the unveiling ceremony were Rolando Laclé, president of the Legislative Assembly, as well as Minister of Health María del Rocío Sáenz Madrigal and Edgar Mohs, one of PAHO's 11 Public Health Heroes of the Americas. Costa Rica also issued a commemorative edition of the national lottery. An exhibit highlighting PAHO's achievements is touring the country.

The Postal Service is issuing 4 commemorative stamps highlighting the Pan American Health Organization and its 100 years of work for health. Below, you can see a poster promoting the stamps as collector's items:
