Centennial Activities in Haiti
- A national Committee made up of representatives from health, NGO's, universities, and national associations was formed in 2001 and worked throughout the 2 years.
- At the annual conference of the Haitian Medical Association, a plaque of Honor and Merit was presented to the PAHO office for their participation in the improvement of the health of the Haitian people.
- During his official visit to Haiti, Dr. Alleyne received official recognition from the minister of health and population.
- During the conference of the Haitian Public Health Association, sponsored by PAHO, the Dr. Ary Bordes prize was awarded to the PAHO country office in Haiti in recognition of its work in Haiti.
- Development and distribution of centennial products, bags, maillots and hats.
- Development and distribution of centennial materials, posters, post cards, brochures, etc.
- Execution of projects designed to concentrate and improve the state of women's health and maternal and child mortality.
- Reconstruction and renovation of the Hospital Justinien in Cap Haitien.
- A painting contest on the theme of "violence" was held and an exhibit was held that featured those paintings representing the problem on intra-familiar violence.
