Research Training Fellowships in Health:Call for ApplicationsFrancesco Pocchiari Foundation FellowshipApplications for the Francesco Pocchiari Foundation Fellowship (US$ 10,000) are invited from researchers in Latin America and the Caribbean to enable them to visit other countries in order to obtain new experience relevant to their own research, including advanced studies and/or training in methods and techniques appropriate to their national priorities. Applicants should have at least 5 years of experience in research and be qualified scientists at postgraduate level. Subjects of interest are the public health sciences and related methodological issues of special relevance to health development. Applicants requiring advanced training in epidemiology will also be considered. They must have an adequate knowledge, both written and spoken, of the language of the country in which their fellowship is tenable. Applications cannot be accepted from people already holding fellowships enabling them to study abroad. Procedure for the proposal and selection of candidatesAny national health administration may put forward candidatures for the fellowship. For Regional Office of the America Region the national health administration may put forward fully documented proposals submitted to the PAHO/WHO Country Representative Offices. Deadline: The Research Coordination Program of the Pan American Health Organization will submit the candidacies to a selection committee composed of members of the ACHR during its meeting in June 2002.
