Working Group on Utilization of Scientific Information
Difficulties exist in the utilization of scientific evidence in guiding policymaking, which have puzzled researchers and decision-makers alike. In a series of case studies done in Mexico, Bronfman et al. identified four main types of obstacles in the use of health research by decision-makers, i.e. obstacles related to context, content, stakeholders, and process. Appropriate means of diffusion of research results, which is one element that this workshop, promoted by PAHO and FUNSALUD addressed.
