Description:
This
electronic list of the Information and Knowledge Management Area (DD/IKM) of
the Pan American Health organization - PAHO/WHO is a news service to
disseminate information, promote communication and interdisciplinary links
to individuals and organizations working on Equity, Health and Human
Development.
EQUITY list purpose is to share public health information of international
significance that enables policy-makers, researchers and practitioners to be
more effective and improves health, particularly among disadvantaged
populations.
The
information is posted in English, Spanish and/or Portuguese, according to
the language of the source.
Main topics
of the list:
Include equity and health, health economics, health legislation,
gender, bioethics, ethnicity, human rights, health disparities, Information
Technology, Virtual libraries, Research & Science issues. Equity news
service was launched in February 2000 and currently is working on the
customization process, which will allow subscribers to create their own
personalized edition.
Audience:
Currently,
Equity network’s comprising over 9,450+ core recipients (public health
professionals, economists and policymakers and connected 23 networks) in
over 155 countries, reaching out approx. 20,500 recipients.

guidelines for posting messages:
We welcome all submissions,
views, and postings. While we cannot promise to publish them all, we will
respond and suggest alternatives to them if Equity is not the best vehicle to
disseminate the submitted information.
1. The
evaluating process of submissions to Equity list are based on the extent to
which the content is focused on the implications of reduction of
inequalities in health, poverty reduction, or related to priority issues on
Health and human development, their application to developing countries, and
their relevance to policy and program instruments.

EQUITY list
is a free daily electronic news brief dedicated to sharing knowledge
regarding the latest information & technical developments in the fields of
Equity, Health and Human Development. The list serves as a bulletin to
announce breakthrough technology, new publications (less than a year of
published), project updates, conference and training information, grant
opportunities, and information on other related electronic resources
all of them available free online in the Internet
