Newsletter for Indigenous People - Vol. 1, Ed. 1, June 2003: Healing our Spirit Worldwide This edition - the first - of this bulletin is a joint effort of the participants who represented Latin America in the "IV Healing our Spirit Worldwide Global Conference." The objective of this quarterly publication is to create a network to share experiences that contribute to the well-being of the indigenous peoples of Abya Yala (name given by the Kuna people of Panama to all of the American Hemisphere) and of the rest of the world. It constitutes an invitation for the countries of the Region to disseminate their experiences toward the search for equity in a context of recognition and respect for the cultural diversity of all the peoples of the Americas. Gender, Health and Development in the Americas- Basic Indicators 2005 The brochure profiles gender differences in health and development in the 48 states and territories in Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on women's reproductive health, access to key health services, and major causes of death. Its objective is to raise awareness of gender inequities in the region and promote the use of sex-disaggregated health statistics in the development of targeted health and development policies and other initiatives.

WHA60.25: Integrating Gender Analysis and Actions into the Work of WHO: Draft Strategy This resolution from the 60th World Health Assembly in 2007 sets forth the WHO mandate to analyze the data and act in ensuring and integrating gender equality into all health-related areas and all levels of health-care delivery and services for women and girls of all ages. CD47.R18: Health of the Indigenous Peoples in the Americas Taking note of the existence of inequities in health and access to health care services that affect more than 45 million indigenous people living in the Americas; and because the United Nations Millennium Declaration cannot be reached unless the specific health needs of excluded populations, such as indigenous peoples, are addressed, this resolution of the 47th PAHO Directing Council in 2006 sets for the mandate to take a multicultural approach to include these groups and work towards greater equity and better health for all.
