World Health Organization - World Health Day 2004 Page The World Health Organization (WHO) welcomes the participation of different organizations in World Health Day 2004, to be held on 7th April 2004. This page is a repository of information on this day. As WHO says, "Together, we can contribute to improving road safety worldwide."
U. S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration The NHTSA responsibilites include: reducing deaths, injuries and economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes; regulating the motor vehicle industry; investigating safety defects in motor vehicles; setting and enforcing fuel economy standards; helping states and local communities reduce drunk driving; promoting the use of safety belts, child safety seats and air bags; and providing consumer information on motor vehicle safety topics.
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health The NIOSH has a web page dedicated to motor vehicle-related highway crashes. Such crashes are consistently the leading cause of work-related fatalities in the United States, accounting for nearly one-fourth of all fatalities.
National Transportation Safety Board The NTSB opened its doors on April 1, 1967. An independent agency, the NTSB has investigated more than 124,000 aviation accidents and over 10,000 surface transportation accidents. In so doing, it has become one of the world's premier accident investigation agencies. On call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, NTSB investigators travel throughout the country and to every corner of the world to investigate significant accidents and develop factual records and safety recommendations.
AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is dedicated to saving lives and reducing injuries by preventing traffic crashes. It is a not-for-profit, publicly-supported charitable educational and research organization. Since 1947, the Foundation has funded nearly 100 research projects designed to discover the causes of traffic crashes.
AAA The American Automobile Association was created in 1902, and has about 47 million members. It has a long history of public service and monitors activities that could impact freedom of mobility. AAA experts regularly testify before congressional committees and federal agencies on issues affecting AAA members and the public, such as automobile and truck safety initiatives and improving highway safety.

National SAFE KIDS Campaign The National SAFE KIDS Campaign is a national non-profit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of unintentional childhood injury — the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. More than 300 state and local SAFE KIDS coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico comprise the Campaign.
Kids and Cars Kids and Cars is as organization created to develop and implement programs that educate and raise awareness of the public about the dangers of leaving children unattended in and around vehicles, as well as provide legislators and other policymakers with the information and support they need to implement laws to reduce and eliminate unnecessary death and injury to children. The organization also maintains a national database on injuries and deaths that occur to children as a result of nontraffic, noncrash incidents.
MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) From their web site: "MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking." The organization was founded in 1980, and has grown to be one of the largest crime victims organizations in the world.
