LAUNCHING OF THE UNITED NATIONS STUDY ON VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN
The former Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Dr. Kofi Annan, presented the Study on Violence against Children, in October 2006 to the UN Assembly. The Study was a global effort co-sponsored by UN Office on Human Rights, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO).(5/Mar/2007)

Economía del Control del Tabaco en los países del Mercosur y Estados asociados
La Organización Panamericana de la Salud/Organización Mundial de la Salud (OPS/OMS) comisionó los estudios en Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Chile y Uruguay, los cuales describen el sector económico del tabaco, incluyendo el empleo generado por la agricultura y la manufactura del tabaco en cada país, la importancia de las exportaciones e importaciones de tabaco en el total del comercio exterior del país y estiman el nivel de contrabando de cigarrillos u otros productos de tabaco, y ofrecen una reseña de las principales políticas y normativas relativas al tabaco y su control. Se resalta la estimación de las elasticidades precio e ingreso de la demanda, que permiten pronosticar el efecto que un aumento de los precios a los productos del tabaco y de los ingresos de los consumidores respectivamente, tendrán sobre la demanda de tabaco, elemento útil para determinar el impacto de una política de incremento de impuestos al tabaco.(19/Apr/2006)
