First Round of Community Cardiovascular Health Promoters Receives Diplomas (INCAP, Guatemala City, Guatemala, 26 June 2008)
With their graduation on 26 June 2008 at the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP) in Guatemala City, the country now has 29 certified cardiovascular health promoters trained in education, prevention, and timely detection of cardiovascular diseases. PAHO collaborated in this effort through the Pan American Cardiovascular Initiative with the National Heart, Blood and Lung Institute of the United States.(26/Jun/2008)

Progress made in the Project on Adaptation and Validation of the 5 Key Ways Manual on Food Safety in Elementary Schools in Guatemala
This 20-slide presention reports on the PAHO project currently being carried out by INCAP in Guatemala. The purpose of the Project is to adapt the WHO Bringing Food Safety Home: Using the WHO Five Keys to Safer Food to local-level needs in Guatemala and later in Honduras as well. L'Organisation panaméricaine de la Santé (OPS) a lancé aujourd'hui l'initiative Amériques sans tabac, campagne déployée sur plusieurs années pour protéger le public contre le tabagisme passif en créant des environnements sans tabac. PAHO HIV Related Language Update 2006
This document builds on existing guidelines1 and suggests language that is appropriate for the current phase of the epidemic and consonant with the Latin American and Caribbean response to HIV. Some of the suggested changes are straightforward, while others may be challenging. Each recommendation includes the new language suggested and the rationale for the change. For a more detailed justification, please refer to the enclosed “Background Notes”. PAHO staff is kindly asked to consider them when producing publications and documents concerning the HIV epidemic.(9/Aug/2006)
