Atención Primaria de Salud a 30 Años de Alma Ata.
XXIX REMSAA. Quito, Ecuador. Abril 8-11, 2008.- Presentación realizada por la Dra. Roses, Directora de la OPS/OMS como invitada especial a la celebración de la XXIX Reunión de Ministros de Salud del Área Andina (REMSAA).
Durante la exposición de su conferencia sobre la Atención Primaria de Salud y Salud para Todos APS/SPT a 30 años de Alma Ata, la Directora señaló la importancia de abordar la atención primaria de salud como una estrategia renovada y vigente para abordar las desigualdades e inequidades de la región. Enfatizó la situación de pobreza y disparidades que enfrenta la región actualmente, así como el legado de Alma-Ata: Atención Primaria como movimiento social y político que continúa influenciando a generaciones por su sentido integral, sinérgico y universal.

International Day of the World's Indigenous People Highlights Health Gaps
On the International Day of the World's Indigenous People observed today, Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) experts noted that 40 percent of indigenous people in the Americas still lack access to conventional health care services. Coupled with serious issues of inequity and discrimination, this situation poses a serious obstacle in achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals.(8/Aug/2006)

Photo Gallery: Primary Care in an Indigenous Community of Chorotes (Tartagal, Province of Salta, Argentina)
These nine photos are of a OAHO community project aimed at improving the quality of life of the indigenous peoples of the Chaco region. The project was a great success in that in involved full community participation and a multitude of actors.
