Programa de Formación en Salud Internacional, experiencia de formación del liderazgo en salud pública y compromiso de trabajo para la salud de nuestros pueblos.
Con un impacto considerable en la generación de cooperantes y profesionales formados en la región, en el año de los recursos humanos en salud, y a 21 de años de la creación del Programa de Formación en Salud Internacional (PFSI), celebra la OPS la clausura de esta importante y significativa iniciativa, comprometida con la continuidad y vigencia de este programa a través del uso de las tecnologías y campus virtuales para la formación y desarrollo de los profesionales de la salud.

Field Photos: Guatemalan Anti-Chinche Campaign through Community-Based Integrated Vector Control (IVM)
These 15 photos show the activities of the campaign for integrated vector control (IVM) in the fight against Chagas in Guatemala. Not only does this mean applying pesticides but also promoting community participation through education to enable them to better protect themselves. This campaign is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Health, PAHO, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).(23/Jun/2005)

Teaching Tuberculosis in Schools of Health: Report of an Expert Consultation (Cartagena, Colombia, 6–8 October 2004)
Tuberculosis is a serious public-health problem, against which the DOTS strategy constitutes the most effective global tool for TB control. Recent studies clearly revealed that one of the major limitations in DOTS expansion concerns the lack of human resources (HR), both in numbers and in terms of adequate skills and abilities. This is PAHO's second meeting in Columbia with teaching representatives from the countries, following up on the initial situation analysis and recommendations on how to improve teaching on tuberculosis in universities; it focuses on how to promote effective involvement of health schools in tuberculosis control.
