The member countries of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) presented this morning at the 51st Directing Council their regional analysis on the Reform of the World Health Organization (WHO) and reaffirmed their willingness to continue participating in and contributing to the discussion process.
Yesterday, the delegations from the PAHO Member States held various roundtable discussions on different aspects of the proposed reform and brought together their initial considerations in a document that this morning was read during the Directing Council. These are contributions from the Americas to the regional consultation process being undertaken by WHO.
The Director-General of WHO, Dr. Margaret Chan, thanked the countries for their comments and said she will take note of their suggestions. Also, the Director of PAHO, Dr. Mirta Roses, thanked the countries for their contributions and their willingness to continue contributing their ideas to the reform process.
