World No Tobacco Day 2011

World No Tobacco Day 2011 encourages countries to fully implement the groundbreaking Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), the world's first international public health treaty, in force since 2005. The FCTC obliges its country Parties to implement a series of standards and legal measures to reduce tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke for their populations. A panel of experts will discuss efforts to implement the treaty in the Americas and the role of international cooperation.
