Belize City, 13 May 2009 – The Pan American Health Organization/ World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Belize, along with educational entities and NGOs, participated in an Educational Expo organized by the Ministry of Education. Hundreds of primary school and high school students, teachers, and parents gathered at the Memorial Park, Belize City, to learn about the different areas of education system in Belize.
Though its main partner is the Ministry of Health, PAHO/WHO is committed to partnering with other public sector agencies, non-governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector and other institutions in promoting health and preventing and controlling disease.
The Pan American Health Organization, which is the Regional Office in the Americas of the World Health Organization, was founded in 1902, and works with all the countries of the Americas to improve the health and quality of life of their peoples. The PAHO/WHO Country Office in Belize was established in the 1950s.
