Home-Based Care Basic Training for Community Volunteers Caring for People Affected by HIV/AIDS in the Stann Creek District

Active Image25 August 2010, Belize City – The Productive Organization for Women in Action (POWA), in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Belize and the Belize Family Life Association (BFLA), conducted a 4-day home-based care basic training for community-level health care workers caring for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in the Stann Creek District. The training workshop was held June 10-12 and 14, 2010 at the HelpAge Center, Dangriga Town.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), regional office of the World Health Organization, invites you to send photographs on the theme: “Healthy workplaces: my Work, my Health.” The contest is open to every worker living in the region of the Americas and the deadline is March 31, 2010.

1st place: $500 USD
2nd place: $300USD
3rd place: $100USD 

The three winners will have their photographs published by PAHO/WHO.

Second National Height Census of School Children conducted in Belize on 12 May 2009

The Second National Height Census of School Children in Belize was conducted on May 12, 2009. Over 9,000 Standard One children throughout the country of Belize were measured to determine their height in relation to their age. The census was carried out by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the National Committee for Families & Children, and UNICEF. Technical support was provided by the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization, the Institute of Nutrition for Central America and Panama (INCAP) and the Regional Program on Food and Nutrition Security, PRESANCA.
