June-July 2009.  Three United States university students performed an internship in mental health at PAHO’s Panama office.  Psychologist Marissa Esser of Emory University ( Atlanta), who is currently getting her Masters in Public Health, worked on the project about alcohol policies that is being developed under the agreement that PAHO/WHO has with the Community of Valencia ( Spain).  This project involves research which includes the following topics: “injuries and alcohol” and “alcohol and gender.”

The other two students, psychologists Whitney Eich and Kate Aden, who are currently getting their Masters in Psychology and Disasters at the University of Denver (Colorado), were involved in activities related to “mental health and disasters” in coordination with PAHO´S area of Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief (PED).
