Epilepsy has a particular relevance in terms of morbidity, disability and death and there is a stigma surrounding people with this disorder that is directly related to discrimination and violation of their human rights. However, there is scientific evidence that simple and low cost interventions, especially at primary health care, can be very effective in controlling it and in improving the quality of life of people with epilepsy.
The document was favorably appreciated and it was unanimously adopted by all countries.
