A workshop to adapt the mhGAP Intervention Guide modules to the socio-sanitary and cultural context of the country was held in Panama on May 9-11. It was coordinated by Dr.Tarun Dua from WHO Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse ( Geneva, Switzerland).

Psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, neurologists, general practitioners and family physicians participated in the workshop. Panama is part of the group of six countries that are piloting an experience for the implementation of the mhGAP modules. The ones on depression and epilepsy were selected for the first phase. They will be implemented in the health regions of Colon and San Miguelito.
