Curso virtual sobre APS e implementación del MAIS

El 11 de diciembre de 2013 se realizó la ceremonia de clausura del Curso Virtual “Desarrollo de capacidades para la renovación de la Atención Primaria en Salud - APS e implementación del Modelo de Atención Integral de Salud, Familiar y Comunitaria - MAIS”, que se desarrolló desde fines de julio hasta inicios del mes de diciembre. En este curso se formaron más de un centenar de profesionales del primer nivel de atención de salud del Ministerio de Salud Pública del Ecuador y a la par se capacitaron en la tutoría virtual 15 docentes universitarios, que podrían replicar el curso.  Este curso se realizó en el marco del proyecto “Mejoramiento de la salud y mayor protección contra enfermedades transmisibles para mujeres, niños y poblaciones excluidas en situaciones de vulnerabilidad en América Latina y el Caribe” desarrollado por la OPS con el apoyo financiero de CIDA Canadá.

Presentation on the transformation of Guayaquil’s Hospital Abel Gilbert Pontón at a regional meeting

In Bogotá, Colombia, from 17 to 19 September 2013, a regional meeting was held for sharing experiences, lessons learned, and the future outlook of the project "Improved health and increased protection from communicable diseases for women, children and excluded populations in vulnerable situations in Latin America and the Caribbean," financed by the Canadian government. During the meeting the experiences in each country were shared, and critical points related to the sustainability of the processes were analyzed. In the case of Ecuador, the experience of the Abel Gilbert Pontón Specialty Hospital of Guayaquil was presented as good practice; it had involved bringing about a structural transformation of the Hospital, to align it to the new Comprehensive Health Care Model, its processes, organizational structure, and service portfolio.

Ecuador’s Ministry of Health, with PAHO Support, Boosts Health Professionals’ Capacity for Clinical Management of Dengue

Ecuador, 25 March 2013 (PAHO/WHO). The Ministry of Health (MOH), in coordination with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), is providing training on the clinical management of dengue, as part of the project “Improved Health and Increased Protection from Communicable Diseases for Women, Children, and Excluded Populations in Situations of Vulnerability in Latin America and the Caribbean,” funded by CIDA—Canada.

PAHO Supports Ecuador’s Ministry of Health in Developing Comprehensive Health Services Networks and Strengthening Hospital Management

Ecuador, 25 March 2013 (PAHO/WHO). The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), as part of the joint project with CIDA—Canada, “Improved Health and Increased Protection from Communicable Diseases for Women, Children, and Excluded Populations in Situations of Vulnerability in Latin America and the Caribbean,” is supporting the Ministry of Public Health in developing comprehensive health services networks and strengthening management of hospitals in the public health network, in particular, at the Abel Gilbert Pontón Hospital of Guayaquil.
