In May 1998, Bolivia was hit by one of the most severe earthquakes in the country’s recent history, presenting a major challenge to authorities in charge of response and rehabilitation in the affected areas. This recounts events during the initial impact of the earthquake, relief efforts, and the early phases of reconstruction from the perspective of the health sector.
