This manual is the first that PAHO published on the topic of disaster mitigation in health facilities. It presents basic concepts about mitigation and examines technical aspects of carrying out disaster mitigation activities in hospitals, with the aim of reducing vulnerability and limiting damage caused by natural disasters, particularly earthquakes and hurricanes.
