Peru 9/27-29/2014

 Earthquake, Paruro, Cusco (5.1-magnitude,  27 September, 8-kilometers deep). According to a preliminary assessment there are 720 people affected, 8 killed and 4 injured. In addition, there is damage to homes, schools, and infrastructure. Civil Defense officials are coordinating response actions, conducting damage assessments and needs analysis and providing assistance to the affected population. National Response: Two temporary shelters were set up to house 115 families, and food, blankets and mattresses have been distributed. The lack of street lighting is making the preparation of hot meals difficult. (o.s.:  INDECI, IGP; m.: El Peruano, La República).
