Colombia 7/21/2014

Atlantic Coast. Drought affecting La Guajira, Magdalena, Atlantic and Cordoba departments. There are insufficient water sources to supply Santa Marta (Magdalena). UNGR deployed operative to evaluate drought situation. Preventive preparedness measures against possible “El Niño” phenomenon. Active operations for water supply in nine municipalities of Santa Marta (Magdalena) and six municipalities of the Cordoba department. The second phase of the relief operation for La Guajira was completed on 11 July, assisting 22,000 families in 18 localities. (o.s.: UNGR; m.: Caracol)

Nicaragua 7/21/2014

San Cristobal volcano. Return to normality after ash and gas explosions on Sunday. Ashfall in communities near the volcano. Family meting points were activated and shelters were identified. Monitoring in progress. (m.: El 19 Digital, El Nuevo Diario)

United States 7/21/2014

Wisconsin State. Diesel spill after train collision causes two injuries and prompts the evacuation of 100 homes. (m.: CNN)
