Tropical Storm Agatha Brings Heavy Flooding to Central America

Agatha, a powerful Pacific tropical storm, produced heavy rains in Central America in late May that resulted in landslides and flash flooding in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. All three governments declared state of emergency prompting activation of their national emergency response mechanisms. PAHO has been working closely with the health sector in response coordination and resource mobilization.
