New CRID Web Site
The new Web site for CRID is being launched at www.crid.or.cr. The new site will make it easier for users to access a wide collection of electronic documents as well as products and services related to disaster management.
The new virtual information center will include a gateway to health and disasters, access to children’s educational materials about disasters, and scientific and academic documentation on risk management.
Municipal Information for Disaster Prevention Available on CD-ROM
Documentation related to the project for a Municipal Information System for Disaster Prevention in Latin America and the Caribbean can now be accessed using a CD-ROM. It is being made available by CRID with financing provided by the Program on Urban Poverty and Environment of the International Development Research Center and technical support from ISDR.
The CD-ROM will make it possible for users to access more than 80 full-text documents on disaster mitigation and technical aspects of applying mitigation measures; planning and decision-making; case studies; communication and information management; basic information on prevention; and recognizing and diagnosing risks.
New Section on Legislation, Disasters and Health
A new section on CRID’s Web site is available with documents collected by PAHO/WHO on legislation, disasters, and health. In this section, the reader can find standards, laws, regulations, and other legal documents related to disasters in Latin America and the Caribbean.
