Looking for more information on pandemic and avian influenza? CRID, the Regional Disaster Information Center, has compiled a substantial amount of material on the topic and is making it available on CD-ROM and over the Internet. The material is organized into three sections:

  • Preparedness and response plans from countries in Latin America and other parts of the world; communications tools and strategies for communicating risk; and public information, including frequently asked questions about avian and human influenza—all of which can be downloaded in full-text format.
  • A comprehensive list of links to important web-based sources of information.
  • Contact information for the Ministries of Health, Red Cross Societies and Civil Protection organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Visit CRID’s web site at www.crid.or.cr and follow the link to the section on avian influenza. For a copy of the CD, write to CRID at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
