HelpAge International has published guidelines that suggest practical ways to meet the needs of the older population in emergency situations. The guidelines also encourage humanitarian workers to use older people’s experience and knowledge of the population and local conditions to make aid more effective. “Older People in Disasters and Humanitarian Crises: Guidelines for Best Practice” is available free of charge in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.
