Tenth Joint Meeting of Caribbean National Epidemiologists and Laboratory Directors –
As part of CAREC/PAHO’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national capacity in the areas of Epidemiology, Surveillance and Laboratory Services, CAREC hosted the Tenth Joint Meeting of Caribbean National Epidemiologists and laboratory Directors from October 12-16, 2009 in Port-of-Spain,
The topics covered in the meting include: the package of surveillance services provided by CAREC/PAHO; the implementation of the International Health Regulations; Influenza Surveillance and response to the pandemic; HIV/AIDS/STI surveillance; and non-communicable disease (NCD) and behavioral risk factor surveillance and training on the NCD minimum dataset.
Participants comprising the National Epidemiologists, the Director of the National Laboratories and the focal points for non-communicable disease (NCD) and other relevant stakeholders from each country attend the meeting.
