Government strengthens Territory’s response to HIV/AIDS

The Ministry of Health and Social Development, in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization Caribbean HIV Office (PHCO), convened a two-day meeting with health care workers from the public and private sectors to standardise the types of treatments available to persons living with HIV/AIDS, and to finalise a national strategic framework for HIV/AIDS in the Territory.

Persons living with HIV/AIDS in the Virgin Islands will now have access to improved testing as part of their regular HIV management and care locally.

Advocacy Meeting with Customs, Immigration and Health Staff at Points of Entry

The primary purpose of these 2 meetings were to introduce the IHR 2005 to the Officers and staff at the points of entry, assist them in understanding their role and responsibility in keeping British Virgin Islands (BVI’s) borders free of hazards (man-made or environmental) and the necessity for strengthening the relationship between Customs, Immigration, Airport, Sea Port and health professionals.
