Ann Peters, is among regional health ministers meeting in Jamaica discussing the way forward in addressing issues associated with the HIV/AIDS epidemic. They are participating in the Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCM) and the Regional Coordinating Mechanisms (RCM) conference.
Sen. Peters, who is the current Chairman of the Pan Caribbean Agreement Partnership Against HIV/AIDS Regional Coordinating Mechanism (PANCAP - RCM), is one of the officials leading discussions on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in which the role and capacities of the CCM/RCM will be highlighted to share lessons learned, including best practices.
The Jamaica meeting was convened by the Global Fund and the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP), through the RCM led by the Grenadian Health Minster.
Sen. Peters, who recently attended the 18th International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria, has said that she is confident that despite cuts in global funding, the Caribbean will continue providing adequate care and treatment for people living with HIV and AIDS.

According to the UNAIDS Best Practice Series, 2004, PANCAP has succeeded in raising the political profile of AIDS in the Caribbean, mobilizing resources, establishing a culture for collaboration and coordination and creating an understanding about the Caribbean epidemic within the global context….. an international best practice.
