The World Health Organization has established that Chronic Non Communicable Diseases are the leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. The area of non communicable diseases encompasses diseases of the cardiovascular system, cancers, diabetes and hypertension and their risks factors along with injuries and violence and mental health.

The Pan American Health Organization’s Office of the Eastern Caribbean Countries (PWR-ECC) continues to work with the countries and territories of the Eastern Caribbean to develop legislation, policies, plans, programmes and information systems to support and strengthen their ability to prevent and provide early interventions for Non Communicable Diseases and Mental Health Disorders.
