Mission: Collaborate with PAHO Member States to conduct surveillance on antimicrobial resistance and contribute to its containment in both the hospital environment (hospital/nosocomial infections) and in the community.
Areas of Work
- Promote and maintain the Regional Network on the Surveillance and Prevention of Antimicrobial Resistance (reports of annual meetings published on main AMR website; link below).
- Promote programs to foster the safe and rational use of antibiotics and to contain resistance to them in accordance with the WHO Global Strategy for Containment of Antimicrobial Resistance.
