Epidemiological surveillance is understood to be a set of actions that are carried out both regularly and continually, that provide enough of the necessary information for timely intervention through adequate means of prevention and control.
With Chagas disease, epidemiological surveillance needs to take into consideration both entomological (vectoral) surveillance and non-vectoral surveillance.
Workshop Objective: To incorporate into the INCOSUR-Chagas initiative a system of evolving instruments, strategies, and results of the surveillance systems that have been implemented in each country, through a workshop involving the member countries of INCOSUR-Chagas, the PAHO/WHO Representation, and the PAHO Regional Program on Chagas.
