Virtual Medical Training Course in Diagnosis, Management, and Treatment of Chagas Disease |
|
Objective: To offer the general practitioner a basic schema and logical summary of the stages of Chagas diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients carrying the disease. The Virtual Medical Training Course in Diagnosis, Management, and Treatment of Chagas Disease comes as a response to the needs of the Subregional Initiatives for Controlling Chagas Disease, coordinated by PAHO, in collaboration with Doctors without Borders (Médicos sin fronteras/MSF-Spain) and available via its website (in Spanish).
This course is aimed at general practitioners who carry out their clinical primary-care tasks in a decentralized way in areas of varying endemicity. Such an arrangement responds to the need to create a context for the student in view of the differing realities regarding the frequency, origin and type of presentation that this group of patients presents when consulting a doctor in highly prevalent endemic areas of active transmission, as well as in others of low prevalence and minimum or interrupted transmission. The given information offered in the course comes about thanks to contributions from technical personnel with vast experience in the subject, who have carried out clinical and epidemiological studies in their workplaces. |
