Workshop on TB/HIV Co-Infection

The PAHO Regional Program on Tuberculosis, in collaboration the the Gorgas TB Initiative (University of Alabama at Birmingham), held a workshop on tuberculosis control in prisons/penitentiaries.

Objectives

  • Familiarize National TB Directors and Prison Health Directors with TB control issues specific to prison settings.
  • Promote collaboration between national TB programs and the prison sector.

Target Audience: Directors of National TB Programs and Prison Health Programs from the Carribean and Central America.

Participating Countries: Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Peru; and, as invited guests, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela.
