Health Sector

  • FOSEREF: carried out HIV/AID prevention activities in FOSEREF’ centers located in all departments since last week. Activities during crisis: Domiciliary visits to groups at risk. (Source: FOSEREF)
  • World Vision: reports that price of essential products and transportation raised by 20 to 40%. La Gonave is the region most affected by shortage of fuel. Charcoal production increased in Central Plateau and La Gonave. Elderly and Children in institutions are the more affected by food shortage. In coordination with OFDA drugs and medical material were distributed to: Justinien Hospital, Cap-Haitien; Sacre-Coeur hospital, Milot, Bon Samaritan Hospital, Limbe, Ste Therese hospital, Hinche. In coordination with Haitian Red Cross: clothes, shoes, diapers and toilet material were distributed in St. Marc. (Source: World Vision)
  • Church World Service: received first $151,003 aid shipment of food and medicines, which will be distributed this week. (Source: Church World Service)

France and USA contributions

  • French government announced a $150,000 contribution to help Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) promote and monitor human rights. (Source: Organization of American States)
  • USA announced an additional contribution of $900,000 to the International Committee of the Red Cross to strengthen medical/surgical capabilities at hospitals in Port-au-Prince and Gonaives, and to improve security at hospitals and medical facilities throughout the country. (OCHA Reliefweb)

PAHO/WHO

  • Two more SUMA trained personnel and 2 immunization specialists have been mobilized to Haiti to support PAHO/WHO activities on the ground.
