Results of the In-house Competition for the Multicenter Project 2002
The Research Coordination of the Pan American Health Organizations is pleased to announce the results of the in-house competition for the selection of the Multicenter Project 2002. A total of eight (8) projects were received, which shows, as in previous years, the effect of this initiative, besides the interest and effort on part of the Technical Programs and the Pan American Centers.
In order to maintain the criteria for impartiality, the Evaluating Committee remained comprised with the IACHR members that were not involved in the submission of projects. Therefore, a former member of the IACHR was adhered to strengthen the Committee. According to the call for proposals terms of reference, relevance, scientific merit, and technical and financial feasibility, the IACHR submitted its recommendations to the Director, who approved as multicenter study in order to be financed in 2002 the project:
Forging a Strategy to Prevent Early Childhood Malnutrition though Improving Complementary Feeding and Access to Fortified Foods in four countries of Latin America and the Caribbean: Brazil, Mexico, Jamaica, and Panama
The Technical Programs as well as the investigators involved in the submission of proposals may request the opinion made by the IACHR to the projects submitted, which includes the Committee's deliberations and recommendations, as well as the Director's final decision. Please address your inquiries to the Research Grants Program at(RGP) at RGP@paho.org.
We extend our congratulations to the Technical Unit and to the members of the research team of the winner project, and remain thankful to those Technical Divisions and PAHO Regional Advisers that submitted proposals for the In-house Competition for the Multicenter Project 2002.
