About the Slogan

The World Health Day 2002 slogan, "Move for Health!", seeks to convey the idea of action, which is the key to physical activity and public health efforts.

Physical activity need not be strenuous to be beneficial. The World Health Organization defines physical activity as "all movements in everyday life, including work, recreation, exercise and sporting activities." Physical activity is a broad term that encompasses activities that range in intensity from taking the stairs regularly, dancing and walking briskly to jogging, biking and practicing sports. The combination of the idea of physical activity as being all MOVEments and the overwhelming positive impact of physical activity on health inspires the spirit of the WHD 2002 celebration and the slogan: "MOVE FOR HEALTH!"
