The XIV Meeting of the Technical Advisory Group on Vaccine Preventable Diseases (TAG) will be held October 2-5, 2000 in Foz do Iguaçu, State of Parana, Brazil. TAG was established in 1985 during the years of the successsful initiative to eradicate poliomyelitis in the Americas, the first region in the world to eradicate the disease. The group is composed by distinguished professionals in the area of immunization from Latin America and the Caribbean, the United States and Canada. Every year it gathers health authorities and experts from the Western Hemisphere, as well as Europe and other regions of the world. TAG functions as the leading forum for the debate and promotion of regional initiatives aimed at controlling and eradicating vaccine preventbale diseases. One of its main objectives is that of strengthening the policy dialogue on immunization in the Region and the international community.
