PAHO/IOM Webinar Series: Making Linkages between Sustainable Development, Equity, and Social Justice

Global Environmental Health and Sustainable Development Innovation Collaborative
Webinar #3

Making Linkages between Sustainable Development, Equity, and Social Justice

The 3-part webinar series is organized with support from the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO).

When: December 20, 2012 (11:00 AM Eastern)

The Global Environmental Health and Sustainable Development Innovation Collaborative will host a 3-part webinar series, under the coordination of the Roundtable on Environmental Health Sciences, Research, and Medicine (EHSRM Roundtable).

The webinars will focus on the United Nations post-2015 development agenda process—a process that will advance a new development agenda for the world as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) reach the target date of 2015.

The aim of the webinar series is to engage members of academia, government organizations, professional societies, and students at schools of public health in dialogue around health, economic development, equity, sustainability, and environmental challenges and to stimulate fresh thinking on possible solutions.

During this webinar, the presenters and participants will:

·         Discuss drivers and consequences of gender and income inequity, highlighting associations with sustainable development and human health.

·         Identify how models or approaches could be utilized to reduce income disparities across or within global regions to promote sustainable development.

·         Provide insights on how sustainable development, equity, and social justice may converge in developing a post-2015 development agenda or Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

All presentations will be in English, with live Spanish translation available through a second link to the webinar.
Both links will be available here the day of the event.
