Prevention of Psycho-Social and Behavioral Risks

Strengthen the capacity of local institutions and communities along the U.S.-Mexico Border in order to improve the health of the population by implementing healthy public policies and programs, as well as monitoring and reducing social and behavioral risk factors and promoting mental health initiatives. The Office supports the development of a research agenda in transborder health. Likewise, it collaborates with initiatives from sister cities, including violence and traffic accident prevention; those related to consumption of tobacco, alcohol and other substances, as well as those that aim to prevent and control the transmission of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections. These initiatives have the participation of  different local and state governmental institutions and numerous NGOs.
