Professionals gather to share and learn about ICT

 

Guadalajara, MX, November 18th, 2011 (PAHO/WHO) – MexicoIT in conjunction with the Mexican Association of Industry Information Technology (AMITI, in Spanish) and the National Chamber of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology (CANIETI, in Spanish) conducted the Global Public Policy Summit 2011 of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). The Summit took place from November the 6th to 8th in Guadalajara, Mexico.

About 500 people from over 40 countries gathered to share and learn about how to promote the use of information and communications technology (ICT) in public policies to counter social exclusion and improve economic activity, employment opportunities, quality of life, participation and social cohesion.

This time the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO / WHO) United States-Mexico Border Office was represented by M.C. Lorely Ambriz, Knowledge Management and Communication Advisor who shared the PAHO / WHO e-Health strategies in a panel discussion of ICTs on the health  area in conjunction with Dr. Ana Estela Haddad, from the Secretary of health of Brazil, Dr. Carol Hullin, from the International Medical Informatics Association, Mr. Igor Rosette Valencia, from the Government of Mexico and Dr. Yunkap Kwankam from the International Society for Telemedicine and e-health.

"It was interesting to include health at an event where private industry, government, and representatives of media and technology sectors were majority. View ICT leaders discuss the use of mobile devices for the control and prevention of chronic diseases among others demonstrates the importance of the multisectoral work to improve health and inclusion in society and change," mentioned M.C. Lorely Ambriz.

The main objective for this summit was for the professionals to share their experiences in the use of ICTs and to learn to use them as a tool to benefit from them in all industries.
