10th U.S.-Mexico Binational Health Week Print E-mail

El Paso, TX, October 5, 2010 (OPS/OMS) - From October 4 to 16, 2010, the Consulate General of Mexico, the City of El Paso Department of Public Health and Pan American Health Organization with other organizations in the region, will give the community of El Paso, Texas and Southern New Mexico various health services as part of the U.S.- Mexico 10th Binational Health Week.

The Binational Health Week (BHW) is a joint effort of community organizations, federal and state agencies with the objective of improving the health and welfare of the Latin American population living in the United States and Canada.

Among the activities held each year stand out informational workshops, the channeling of basic services as well as health insurance programs, promotion and health education in addition to the vaccines and free screenings.

This coming October 6 at 12:00 pm,
will be held a press conference at the Consulate General of Mexico located at 910 E. San Antonio Ave, El Paso, Texas, 79901, where they will announce the details of the '10th Binational Health Week' to the media in the region

The 10th Binational Health Week will take place from October 4-16, 2010 in at least 40 states in the American Union and 3 Canadian provinces, with the participation of the consular networks in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Also during the BHW will be organized five national campaigns on issues of Addiction Prevention and Gang Members in Adolescents, Obesity and Diabetes, Consciousness about Disability and Autism, Oral Health and ultimately access to various Health Services.

As part of the 10th edition of Binational Health Week, the Consulate General of Mexico in El Paso, the City of El Paso Department of Public Health, and the Pan American Health Organization / World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) together with various organizations of local public health will develop the following activities:

  • OCTOBER 6 2010 / 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm 10th Binational Health Week Inauguration The Consulate General of Mexico located at 910 E. San Antonio Ave, El Paso, Texas. Participants: the Department of Public Health of El Paso and Pan American Health Organization.
  • OCTOBER 7, 2010 / 12:00 pm (EST) / 11:00 am (CST) / 10:00 am (MST) / 9:00 am (PST)
    Virtual Conference on Obesity and Diabetes in the United States-Mexico Border
