El Paso, TX, August 10, 2012(PAHO/WHO) – In the framework of the Prevention of Violence and Injury Project coordinated by the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Council for the Prevention of Accidents (CONAPRA) of the Ministry of Health of México (SSA), a binational workshop in El Paso, TX entitled Training in the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Bullying Prevention will be held on:

The Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization U.S.-Mexico Border Office, El Paso County Attorney’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Consulate of México in El Paso, Tx. have extended an invitation to the workshop to promoters of community centers, law enforcement offices, human rights, NGOs and all those professionals who work in violence prevention and bullying in educational institutions in Ciudad Juárez and El Paso, with the purpose of exchanging information and the experiences of the organizations on both sides of the border who have been working on prevention of domestic and dating violence, bullying and sexting.
The event will be presided by Dr. María Teresa Cerqueira, Chief of the Office at the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization U.S.-México Border Office, Jo Anne Bernal, El Paso County Attorney, Jaime Esparza, El Paso District Attorney, and Jacob Prado, General Consul, Consulate of México in El Paso, TX.
The workshop will consist of the following presentations: Teen Violence, Walking in Their Shoes, Adult Domestic Violence, and Bullying and Sexting.
